What material is right for me? We offer two materials. For home decor we recommend our matte Polyester wall fabric. It’s self-adhesive, removable, repositional and perfect for DIY installation. We also offer murals in our satin wall film. This is recommended for door murals, posters and commercial applications as it has a much stronger adhesive. We strongly recommend professional installation of the wall film on any order over 1 ‘drop’.
What’s with the watermark on the image gallery images? Watermarks will be removed when they are replaced by the high resolutions images. We will purchase the image for you, after we receive your order.
How will my Wall Mural arrive? The size of your order, determines the amount of drop’s you will receive. Each ‘drop’ is approx 60cm with a 10mm overlap.
What preparation will my walls need? Correct preparation is important to ensure the best experience with your Designmywalls Wallpaper Wall Murals. First making sure that the wall is flat, clean and hasn’t been painted in the last month, then remove any fixtures. Please note that some paints contain Polymers like Teflon or silicon, which may cause the media to bubble or fail unless prepared with a water based barrier coat or undercoat first, before installation. An easy way to find out if your wall does contain these elements is to lightly spray the wall with water. If it beads, not runs, the paint contains silicon or Teflon. We also recommend using an Isopropyl or Isopropanol Prep Vinyl before installation. Avoid applying in excessively hot/or humid areas and conditions. We recommend ordering some of our free test samples. Designmywalls holds no responsibility for the application of item or how it performs once hung.
Can I use my Wall Mural on an exterior wall? No sorry, Wall Murals are for interior use only.
How high is the print quality? Print quality is very high. We use a Roland VersaCamm and full Roland Eco-sol Max2 inks.
How will the image look up close? All images will be optimized for large scale printing. Image quality varies from image to image. Also the quality will drop the more it is enlarged or the bigger the wall, so some Wall Murals may appear grainy or blurry up close. This is natural, but must be considered though. Wall Murals aren’t designed to be looked at up close, much like a TV. Step back and appreciate them as they were designed.
How do I install it? Simply peel a little of your first drop from the backing, align it with the top left corner of your wall, stick and work your way down, removing any bubbles or creases as you go. Then line up your next drop, remembering the 10mm overlap. Apply the second the same as the first. Repeat until your wall is covered. When all the drops have been applied, simply trim the excess with a sharp Stanley knife. Full instructions are included with your order. It really is that easy!
Can I post overseas? I’m afraid not, Wall Murals are for delivery within Australia only with the exception of some remote islands. Please do not buy if you have an international address.
Can I hang in a excessively hot/humid environment? We recommend that you don’t hang your mural in an overly hot or humid environment. As this may lead to temporary loss of adhesion. Using a spray adhesive on the top 10cm of each panel is a great way to securely fasten your wall mural and avoid peeling. Though please note, that once a spray adhesive is applied, your mural is no longer removable.
Can I get a test sample? Of course you can. Ordering our test samples is a great way to sample first hand the texture and feel of our self-adhesive 100% Polyester woven fabric or the Satin Wall Film that we print all our wall murals on. It’s also a great way to find out if your wall is compatible to hosting wall graphics. You can grab some here for free!
Can I have it installed? DesignMyWalls only designs, prints and delivers Custom Wall Murals for DIY installation. As easy as our Wall Murals are to apply, that may not suit your situation. No problem. We recommend having it installed by a professional Wall-paperer. Please enquire with us, as we don’t mind helping you organise one in your area.
